Authorities say a man shot and killed his girlfriend in Dallas this week after finding out she had left the country to have an abortion.
According to an arrest warrant document obtained by CBS News, Harold Thompson, 22, allegedly shot and killed 26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez in a parking lot on Wednesday after learning that she had gone to Colorado the day before for an abortion. In Texas, almost all abortions are against the law.

The affidavit stated that Thompson was thought to be the father and that he “did not want” the victim “to get an abortion.”
Gonzalez was shot once in the head on security tape, which also showed the perpetrator placing her in a choke hold before shooting her multiple times as she lay on the ground, according to the police affidavit.
Gonzalez passed away right there.
Gonzalez’s sister also reported to police that she had been walking past and had seen the pair together in the parking lot just before the shooting. After hearing the shots, she “looked back and saw her sister on the ground,” the affidavit adds.
After that, Thompson was detained on suspicion of murder.
