Come Hell Or High Water, Biden Promises To Outlaw Assault Rifles- In a speech on Wednesday, President Biden declared that he would outlaw assault rifles and large-capacity magazines “come hell or high water.”
At the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference on Wednesday night in Baltimore, Maryland, Biden made the remarks.
“I am aware that this may cause some of you to feel uneasy, but Delaware, the small state above me, has one of the highest rates of gun ownership. But what’s this? Hell or high water, assault rifles, and high-capacity magazines will be outlawed again. When we last implemented it to reduce mass fatalities, “added Biden.
After three students were killed and six others were injured on February 13 at Michigan State University, Biden made his remarks. Anthony McRae, the alleged shooter, later committed suicide before authorities could apprehend him.
Five years after a shooter opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 14 students and three teachers, the Biden administration announced that the Justice Department would give states $231 million to be used for crisis intervention. This announcement came one day after the shooting at Michigan State University.
Additionally, the funds might be used in initiatives to increase red flag programs and attempts to reduce gun violence.
“These awards will support the kinds of crisis intervention programs that we know save lives and help protect children, families, and communities across the country from terrible acts of gun violence,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said.
According to Biden, the cash can be utilized to inform the public about high-risk protection orders.

“But, red flag regulations only function as a lifesaving tool if locals use it well. The statement made today provides states with resources to inform citizens about extreme danger protection orders and to educate law enforcement and other government officials about this action, “added Biden.
