The French Culture Ministry and French media have reported that actress and singer Jane Birkin, who made France her home and charmed the nation with her English grace, style, and accented French, has away at the age of 76.
The London-born celebrity was well-known for her sense of style and for her emotional and musical association with French musician Serge Gainsbourg. One of their duets, the smouldering “Je t’aime moi non plus,” had Birkin’s delicate singing voice with a British accent blending with his gruff baritone. She appeared in numerous movies, including “Blow-Up” in 1966 and “De@th on the Nile” in 1978.
The celebrity is well-known for serving as the model for Hermès’ Birkin bag, a high-end handbag. Celebrities like the Kardashians, Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, and Lady Gaga adore the pricey and difficult-to-find bags, which range in price from $9,000 to $500,000.

She joined other French celebrities in 2022 in shaving their heads in support of Iranian women who were demonstrating against harsh modesty restrictions. To remember Mahsa Amini, who p@ssed away after being detained by the morality police, Charlotte Gainsbourg, the daughter of Birkin and Gainsbourg, chopped off a lock of her mother’s hair.
Birkin was discovered de@d at her Paris residence, according to the French news organizations Liberation and BFM TV. According to the French publication Le Figaro, Birkin’s recent health problems prevented her from performing and reduced the number of times she appeared in public.
The French Ministry of Culture tweeted that Birkin p@ssed away on Sunday. She was praised for being a “timeless Francophone icon.”
